godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
okay I am ready and reporting to you help..
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
x/7 = 2 x=7 times 2 x=14
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
we are solving for x right?
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
check your answer: x=14 x/7 8 = (14)/7 8 =28 =10
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
no no you can't do that when x/7 no
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
whenever you see / it means divide
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
so therefore we x divided by 7
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
yeah, i know, when you change sides, it becomes mutiplying
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
but you have to change sides with addition (or subtraction first before you can change sides with division)
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
so it should be 7x=14
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
no it's divided here so that can not happen
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
anytime you have something divided by something you times it
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
in order for the x or whatever you are solving for.
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
ok, let's do this one for clarity.......1n/5=12
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
subtract 1 from both sides...
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
you should have n/5 =11
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
guys if you are doing this right than have X=??
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
1 n/5 =12 1 1 n/5 =121 n/5 =11 n=55 n=55
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
gr8! just make sure you don't get confused with the signs
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
oh I see what you are doing now, I go step by step that is why I was thrown off by what you did
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
subtract 3 from both sides
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
and you can always check your answers by substituting x=? in you equation
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
what is 10 divided by 6?
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
something isn't right, that is not one of my answwer choices
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
10 goes into 2 five and 2 goes into 6 3 so the answer is 5/3
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
well your steps are all correct...
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
I didn't have the lowest denominator
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
usually the answers are in simplest form, so simplify your fractions
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
what choices do you have?
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
Tiffany I am so sorry about this, I was trying to walk through the steps here so you could ask questions. if you have this I will go
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
I have 5/3 as an answer
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
no before you said 2
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
right, but godorovg came up with 5/3 and I have that as an answer choice
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
unless it says to do it I would leave as is
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
I need help with this one 0=1/6y+8=
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
subtract 8 from both sides
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
can I help here, this problem you are making it harder than it has be
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
because the variable is in the denominator, therefore we have to switch it to the other side
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
8=1/6y 8(6y)=1/6y times 6y
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
so you multiply both sides with 6y
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
yes that is right, although when you first start this collect all a like terms and move then to one side and than times through the number being divided
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
okay let us take this one x/78=10 now here is how I would do this First take the 8 and add 8 to the 10 so now we have this x/7=10+8 than take this and do the sub to get 2 so now we have x/7=2 once you have than take the seven ant times to the two so now we have X= 14 like that
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
multiply both sides by 1/6?
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
you multiply both sides with 6y
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
but it is 1/6 not just six
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
it should be y=1/48
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
oh yes, because it was a 8
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
since: 1/6y =8 1/(6 times8) =y so, y=1/48
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
yes it that is the y=1/48
 one year ago

erinhassBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
okay, thanks guys! I'm tired...going to bed, goodnight! Thanks for your help!
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
hey no problem glad I could you help you :)
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
it's funny that when erinhass says good night , it's actually good morning for me. :)
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
yeah and it's night time where I am as well
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
u live in the states?
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
oh, good for u, i've always wanted to live in the states
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
yeah funny thing I have always wanted to leave the States
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
guess we would all like to explore more.
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
no not to just explore, it falls under the job market here stinks and the education system is messed up for kids, although I don't have any/
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
i'm a victim under the education system in hong kong :(
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
yeah i have heard about that as well. I am a math person that you can graphs in my head and will be studying Engineering Physics soon
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
I am what some would call human calc
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
:) good for you, sometimes i do that , and miss steps in exams, got a b instead of a, frustrating
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
yeah, that is why I tell all people that i work step by step in that way you can go back to see what is wrong.
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
yeah, i know, that's why i have to be extra careful when i'm doing my exams. And i do tutoring, helps a lot with my presentation skills
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
it drives me nuts sometimes on here when I see people skipping around. that is just plain doesn't make sense to me
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
sometimes people skip unintentionally, you know, they calculate in their head, and skipped a few steps, sometimes they don't notice it.
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
yes true and may be this is something I will have to deal with, still I can not understand why skip steps what does that prove?
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
i personally think if one is confident with that particular question, and skipping a little steps is alright, just don't skip major ones, step on scrap papers, yes you can skip, but steps in exams, no.
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
i just tell myself be considerate, and help the techer go through the papers as smoothly as possible, work hard for years just to make sure i won't skip anything.
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
u too.:), and thx.
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
That is what I try to do here, only that I want the person I am helping to tell what they know and I help from that point
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
I don't just do the work for them..
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
yeah, sorry about that , will work hard for that, for me it's kind of harder to explain when not face to face
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
yeah, I can how it could be hard for you, but if you want sometime I can give you tips on to do things a little better only if you want tips
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
yeah, of course, pls do, i'm all ears :)
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
okay first what type of math do you help with this mostly?
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
algebra, calculas, and the basics, just high school stuff.
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
okay with all these subjects, you need to get the student in which you are helping to tell what they need help with.
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
than before you do any of the work have them show you what they know about that problem already and ask to see what they are having trouble with
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
than once the it is clear, work the problem by typing it out in words and than draw it like you were doing. In the typing step by step always so the student can see what is happening where
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
sometimes it won't matter if draw the problem if student doesn't get what is going on. So that is why I type it out in all steps
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
yeah, i find that if students can figure out the problem themselves, it has a greater impression on them
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
that is always my goal as well.
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
for example this x/78=10 the student wasn't getting it the whole thing that is why I typed out the steps to show that they are making it too hard.
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
also to get the student to ask questions as well
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
yeah, interaction helps.
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
A must in math, because you and the student have to be involved in order to teach
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
also just know you won't be there when they are tested. so have the student do the work and you just guide them
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
unless they just not getting it.
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
absolutly right, are you like, a teacher?
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
No. I am a Physics Engineering major in college
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
cool, always have love physics, physics rocks!
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
Chem and Physics oh yeah,,
 one year ago

godorovgBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1
Anything to do with math I love
 one year ago

tiffanymak1996Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
