1. godorovg

is this to solve for X? or what?

2. godorovg

you there??

3. KellySund

yah you have to solve x

4. godorovg

okay so what is throwing on this problem?

5. KellySund

C.L.T Board Problems

6. godorovg

oh.. okay well we can work this together and solve it.

7. godorovg

first off tell me are there a like terms what I mean numbers with X's with them?

8. godorovg

|dw:1345681091544:dw|

9. godorovg

with the x terms in my drawing we can bu them together like this 8x-2x+10+9

10. godorovg

is this making sense to you??

11. KellySund

ok

12. godorovg

so now what 8x-2x=?

13. KellySund

-10

14. KellySund

the 8 was supposed to be -8

15. KellySund

so then -10x+10+9=9?????

16. godorovg

okay -8x-2x=-10 good now add the 10+9 together and we have?

17. godorovg

-10x=10+9

18. KellySund

oh i know how to do that! but what about stuff like -2-x-x and x+x+x+10

19. godorovg

okay -x-x? that is -2x because when we have -vs- we add. X has conf of one when no value is being denfined 3x+10 because again you are adding 1 which is what the x has a value of.

20. godorovg

unless the -2 has and x like this -2x you can not put together. since our -2-x-x the only thing you can do here is -2 -2x terms don't match.

21. godorovg

in other words when you an X unless there a number in front think one. But not when there X^2 no.

22. KellySund

okay what about -3x-x+7x-12+x-20, -11y+4x+y-x, and -8 times -8x +9x-4 times 4x+6

23. godorovg

okay let us do in this in steps. first what can we do with all X terms. Recall x terms are numbers and or x's that can added or subtracted or divided?

24. godorovg

25. godorovg

okay I see something that equals =0 off the bat in X's
