I think it's A. Because a mutation can occur and continue in a population, as long as it doesn't kill them, right? Any other ideas?
i go forr b
but being an advantage under a certain condition isn't /necessary/ per se, is it? i mutation could be neutral and still persist couldn't it?

I don't think B is right. Mutations can persist by chance (it's called genetic drift). I am inclined to go with A.
I also like a.
