@ak002 https://www.coursera.org/ and https://www.edx.org/ Both offer courses taught through prestigious universities through online (and free) delivery. Many of those courses come with a certificate of completion. However, I don't believe that anyone can guarantee you that any certificate will be valuable in the field --- though knowledge, on it's own, is always valuable.

Though I do not believe there are any universities which take the concept so far as to offer on-campus education for free. Just the online versions of some courses, sometimes for a certificate.

I agree with the other responses here. The knowledge is valuable but a free certificate in computer programming will not really gain you much respect or credibility in the job world. Something like MCPD will though. My advice to you is learn as much as you can, have fun, and when you apply for programming jobs, have as many samples of your work as possible to prove you are skilled at the job you are applying for.By the way, a free certificate still shows you have a certain amount of knowledge and skills. You'll never know until you try it!
