When you are going to interview a source about an important topic, it may be a good idea to think of details that are interesting to you regardless of the actual news topic. avoid telling the source that you are a reporter so he or she will answer more honestly. prepare notes and thoughts ahead of time so you know what questions to ask the person. plan to talk about anything other than the topic at hand and be prepared for that.
