I've been playing guitar for seven years and I've never actually taken a real lesson. When I started I mostly used youtube videos to learn beginner songs, and the best thing for you to learn early is learning how to read guitar tabs. That will help you a ton. And what you learn after that is just really about how much you want to expand your knowledge of playing. Hope this helped.

I play guitar, bass, piano and violin..lol I taught myself to play guitar...I learned the chords from my dad..and you could probably learn the chords from youtube..but once you got that down then you can play any song practically..and if you wanted to learn like riffs or whatever..try scales frist..those are always the best to start off with.. ^w^ you can order the scale books, or you can find an online scale thing. Best of luck :p
