## ebydaqueen17 3 years ago PLZ PLZ, SOMEONE HELP ME ON THIS PROBLEM!!! Route 66 goes from Chicago to L.A and extends 2448 miles. Julie begins in Chicago and drives at an average rate of 45mph on route 66 toward Los Angeles. At the same time Nemri begins in L.A. and drives on route 66 at an average rate of 50mph toward Chicago. If Julie and Nemri maintain these average speeds, how long after they start will they meet?

1. ajprincess

Time taken by both to reach the meeting point will b equal. Use $$v=\LARGE\frac{s}{t}$$

o ok....thanks...;)

7. ebydaqueen17

what does x stand for ?

8. ajprincess

x is the distance covered by Julie

9. ebydaqueen17

and t is the time in hrs, right?

10. ajprincess

ya

11. ebydaqueen17

so do i have to do another equation and substitute to find the distance that Nemri covered?

12. ebydaqueen17

and then add them together or something?

13. ajprincess

u r asked to find the time only.
