that is one way. here is another in 2 years it goes from \(3500\) to \(2000\) and \(\frac{2000}{3500}=\frac{4}{7}\) so we can use \[3500\times \left(\frac{4}{7}\right)^{\frac{t}{2}}\] where \(t\) is time in years

then if you want the value in \(9.5\) years you can (with a calculator) find \[3500\left(\frac{4}{7}\right)^{\frac{9.5}{2}}\]
