    te amo is one way to say i love you because 'te' is a direct object

    "te quiero" is also one way to say it... but more for just friends... Like, I love you in the best-friend sense! "te amo" is for real love <3

    "Te amo" is usually the largest express love. "Te quiero" is a less great. In English there is no such scale. "I love you" = "Te amo" or "Te quiero"
