Evaporation, the transition from liquid to vapor, is the reverse of condensation, which is the transition from vapor to liquid. Sublimation is the transition from solid to vapor. The reverse of sublimation is deposition; vapor deposition is an extremely important process in semiconductor manufacturing. Sublimation is also a psychological mechanism first described by Friedrich Nietsche.
