to see if a quadratic has any solutions you will have to use the formula for the descriminant b²4ac 3=a 5=b 10=c sub them in if x <0 no real solutions x=0 1solution x>0 2 solutions

well it is less than zero you don't need the exact value you just need to know if it is negative, zero or positive
