The scale goes from 0 to 14 0 is a very strong acid. 7 is neutral. 14 is a very strong base. So, the higher you go, on the scale, the weaker the acid, and the stronger the base. It's easy to remember it this way: Anything LESS than 7 is ACIDIC. Anything GREATER than 7 is BASIC.
