## chicagochica5 3 years ago What is the remainder of (x^3 – 6x – 9x + 3) ÷ (x - 3)

1. nphuongsun93

do you know how to divide them?

2. chicagochica5

no :(

3. chicagochica5

@nphuongsun93 and you help me?

4. nphuongsun93

woops sorry i'm here, 1 sec

5. nphuongsun93

first let me confirm is it (x^3 – 6x – 9x + 3) ÷ (x - 3) OR (x^3 – 6x^2 – 9x + 3) ÷ (x - 3) ^^^^^

6. chicagochica5

(x^3 – 6x – 9x + 3) ÷ (x - 3) this is correct

7. nphuongsun93

then first simplify x^3 - 6x - 9x + 3 = x^3 - 15x + 3|dw:1349205093592:dw|

8. nphuongsun93

|dw:1349205145845:dw|

9. nphuongsun93

|dw:1349205201562:dw|

10. nphuongsun93

|dw:1349205284237:dw| (x^3 - 15x + 3) ÷ (x - 3) = x^2 + 3x - 6 remainder - 15

11. chicagochica5

-15 or -51?

12. chicagochica5

theses are my choices: A: -51

13. chicagochica5

B: -51 ------- x - 3

14. chicagochica5

C: -17 ------- x

15. chicagochica5

D: -17 -------- x - 3

16. chicagochica5

@nphuongsun93 do you know?

17. nphuongsun93

oh i see -_- this is why i asked you if it's (x^3 – 6x – 9x + 3) ÷ (x - 3) OR (x^3 – 6x^2 – 9x + 3) ÷ (x - 3) you missed a ^2 in the 6x if it's (x^3 – 6x^2 – 9x + 3) ÷ (x - 3), then the remainder is - 51/(x-3)

18. chicagochica5

On my paper its only 6x @nphuongsun93

19. chicagochica5

I guess it was a misprint on there end. thanks @nphuongsun93
