    ok, lets assume there are only 3 students, then total no. of projects = 2+1 = 3 for 4 students, total number of projects = 3+2+1.= 6 similarly for 18 students it will be 17+16+15+.....+2+1 = ??

    its 17+16+15+14+13+12+11+10+9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1=? or u can do 17*(17+1)/2
