This website is becoming useless. Over the sumemr it was great, people would help me with my problems, and I would help people with theirs. Now it is completely flooded with high school and first year questions. almost NONE of my questions get answered, I have also stopped helping others, as it is almost always helping high school students with stuff that doesn't help me study. This really sucks. There are simply to many questions being asked in each section. We NEED some greater separation than just "math" and "physics" At the very least we need "math" and "calculus"

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0So, first of all I'm sorry you feel this way. First of all, helping other users has always been an altruistic sort of thing in that many people who do help do so without really any benefit to themselves. That said, we do have plans to bring in some additional separation in large subjects anyway.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0And feel free to tag people who you think may be of more help. I know I was able to help you with your last problem, and there are a good number of us who can help with math up through differential equations and even higher. You just need to know who to ask. also haha @farmdawgnation for having two "first of all"s :P

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1I totally get the altruism thing. At the same time, one of the best things about this website is that helping others also helps yourself. It might be kind of selfish, but in the end if you help someone, and help yourself, it's a winwin situation. A common course like multivariable calculus is not so bad, because a lot of people study it. I also found great success finding help in differential equations and linear algebra in previous semesters. I feel like the current format of the website will not be useful for courses like advanced calc or PDE type stuff. I'm sure there are people here who are good at it, and would be keen to help. There are just obviously way less of them, and therefore way less of a chance they might see it. I guess at my current level of education I am noticing it more on the physics side, since far less people take intermediate physics courses than intermediate math courses. What I imagine is if you had a "math" page with all the questions like it is now, but you could filter it based on the material. So If someone wanted to see only a certain group of subjects, they could select it, and all of the other questions would disappear. Anyways I didn't know about the tagging feature and think this might be very useful! Thanks for letting me know.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0I think , the concept of openstudy is great it's just it has become a homework forum and not a question and answer forum, if possible all questions need to go in the knowledge base and we should be able to serach the knowledge base for openstudy to be productive...it's like omegle was a good concept but kind off become guys looking for girls stuff.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1I don't know if I agree with this. I find the way it is right now is the best. The best way to learn is by doing. If it were the other way it would be like yahoo answers or something where you can pretty much just copy the answers. I have no problem with the whole concept behind open study. In fact I think it is brilliant. The only problem I have is that the organizational structure of the website is not suited to handle the volume of questions being posted, and I feel it will get worse as more people join. Also I feel like I'm controlling a space ship or something with all the flashing lights and chat boxes that appear haha.
