the myth of the rose is wonderful!! my grandma used to tell it to me before sleep !! a long time ago there was Rodanthi ( her name means rose + cactus)! Rodanthi was beautiful and very wise!! everybody admired her!! one day she invited her friends to come over so as to eat all together and talk! her friends did came over , but they got drunk and one of them told her that women are never as wise as men!! she got angry and told them that athena was the smartest goddess and they immediately lost it ,because Zeus ,king of gods, was believed to be the best of the best at everything AND A MAN !they started chasing her to kill her on grounds of blasphemy!! she ran into a temple of the goddess artemis which should have offered her a shelter but a man didnt hesitated to go and try to catch her!! then artemis got angry and turned her into a rose and every one who tried to catch her was wounded by her thorns!! hope it helped
