    in vlsi engineering, for example we use mathematical models to simulate behavior of a chip like delays, power etc - coz manufacturing is very costly - we cannot make a chip and test it, if it fails then make it again - thats not possible. once we knw its gona work for sure, then only we go ahead and manufacture it... mathematical models help us to precisely figure out a window in which the chip is going to work as expected. once we see that our simulations are passing, we go ahead and manufacture wid confidence
