The thing about high fructose syrup, or any product that contains fructose for that matter, is that the cell doesn't need insulin to internalize this type of sugar. That might sound good, right? Well, it actually isn't. It has been proven that fructose causes an increase in the production of tryglycerides (fat, basically) which may cause an increase of body weight (obesity), and alters the plasma lipids (cholesterol).
