That is one thing you could compare. The main thing to keep in mind when comparing any cultural landscape, religious or otherwise, is how experience of a space (a location) turns it into one with meaning, or a geographic "place". For a religious landscape, you should consider how religious beliefs and experiences sanctify an otherwise ordinary location and give it meaning.
