## lgbasallote Group Title Translate the statement "you cannot watch the movie if you are under 18 years old unless you are accompanied by your parents" into a logical expression one year ago one year ago

1. sauravshakya Group Title

If u r >=18 or Accompanied by your parents then U can watch movie

2. lgbasallote Group Title

that's not really a logical expression....

3. lgbasallote Group Title

i assume this will be the start: p: you can watch the movie q: you are under 18 r: you are accompanied by your paretns

4. lgbasallote Group Title

then what?

5. sauravshakya Group Title

Not q or r then p

6. lgbasallote Group Title

$$r \wedge q) \rightarrow p$$?

7. sauravshakya Group Title

Well I am not familiar with those symbols

8. lgbasallote Group Title

hmm seems it should be $(q \wedge \neg r) \rightarrow \neg p$ why?

9. swissgirl Group Title

hmmmmm let me think abt this one

10. lgbasallote Group Title

that would be splendid

11. swissgirl Group Title

if you are under 18 years old and not accompanied by a parent then you can not watch the movie p=under 18 years old q=accompanied by a parent r=unable to watch movie

12. lgbasallote Group Title

mmhmm

13. swissgirl Group Title

(p^~q)->r

14. lgbasallote Group Title

should be (p^~q) -> ~r

15. swissgirl Group Title

give me one more sec I doubt its (p^q)->r

16. lgbasallote Group Title

yeah...i just said what it is supposed to be

17. swissgirl Group Title

ya so then its that

18. lgbasallote Group Title

question is...why?

19. swissgirl Group Title

if you are under 18 years old and not accompanied by a parent then you can not watch the movie p=if you are under 18 years old q=accompanied by a parent r= can watch movie

20. lgbasallote Group Title

....you're just repeating yourself...

21. swissgirl Group Title

nope I changed what r symblizes

22. lgbasallote Group Title

oh. so it's going to be (p ^ ~q) -> ~r still i ask..why?

23. swissgirl Group Title

which part is confusing? Ok for starters I switched around the order of the sentence. I put the result which was cannot watch movie at the end of the sentence So basically i rearranged the sentence so that the 2 conditions are in the beginning unless accompanied by an adult is another way of saying not accompanied by an adult

24. lgbasallote Group Title

main part is (p ^ ~q)

25. swissgirl Group Title

I am not sure what is confusing you. The hard part is rearranging the sentence

26. lgbasallote Group Title

i just said what was confusing me....

27. swissgirl Group Title

okkk we need 2 conditions in order to not be able to go to the movie 1) under 18 years of age 2) not accompanied by a parent Under 18 years of age is in a postive form p=under 18 years of age Not accompanied by a parent is in a negative form ~q= not accompanied by parent q=accompanied by parent

28. lgbasallote Group Title

^ means and yes?

29. swissgirl Group Title

So if you are under 18 years of age and NOT accompanied by a parent Then you can NOT watch the movie (p^~q)=~r ^=and

30. lgbasallote Group Title

hmm so 18 andnot accompanied by parent implies no watch?

31. swissgirl Group Title

Correct

32. bahrom7893 Group Title

Actually no, under 18 and not accompanied implies no watch.

33. lgbasallote Group Title

thanks

34. lgbasallote Group Title

35. bahrom7893 Group Title

18 implies watch

36. lgbasallote Group Title

37. bahrom7893 Group Title

38. swissgirl Group Title

39. swissgirl Group Title

What happens if you frequent music chat when you are older than 18?
