The left angle is 3x+20 by the ways. I've tried this problem over and over and just don't get it!

    the angles of a triangle all add up to 180, so add these three expressions and set them equal to 180 like this \[4x + 5 + 3x + 20 + 8x + 15 = 180\]

15x+40=180 15x=140 x=9.3 but when you plug them in it doesn't make snse?

    sure it does, if we plug 9.3 back into the equation 4x + 5 + 3x + 20 + 8x + 15 = 180 the result will be 180 = 180 which means we've found the right number for x
