Okay. Took me a minute to realize that this forum was feedback to the site. I just sorta Asked in the one that seemed right. Where could I post for an Earth Science question?
We haven't really had need for a Geology group before. @blues kind of keeps an eye on the hard science groups. She'll be able to advise you where this should be posted.

I would post this in the Geography group.
Ancient history: before we had the geography group, people posted a lot of Earth Science and geology in the biology group. It was not terrific - biology is the study of life, and climatology and rocks aren't alive - but as earth science and geology is sort of the substrate on which life occurs, it was OK.
Then we got the geography group. It tends not to be particularly busy and there is no group of tutors in that subject, which means that questions there tend to go unanswered for a while; however, I would prefer to see earth science and geology questions posted there.
