    8x-2 (x+1)=7x+8 then you use the distributive property of equality. 8x-2x-2=7x+8 then simplify 6x-2= 7x+8 then use the add property of equality -2=x+8 then use the subtrct. property of eq. -10=x and the reflexive property x=-10 TAH DAH
