It uses signs, symbols, and proofs and includes arithmetic, algebra, calculus, geometry, and trigonometry. (takes a singular verb) plural noun calculations: the calculations involved in a process, estimate, or plan (takes a plural verb) It's a simple idea, though the mathematics of it are very complex.
