the quadratic is positive definite... to check the nature of the solutions use the discriminant \[\Delta = b^2  4ac\]

use this formula.... \[ax ^{2}bx+c=0\] \[x = \frac{ b \pm \sqrt{b ^{2}4ac} }{ 2a }\]

you may use the formula but you won't get real solutions, you will get complex solutions.

why dont use completing square...and then plot the graph...then find the intersection of the graph...
