    1. I am a curious atom. What type of vegetation would I like to see? Grass, tree, fruit or plant? List here: Plant . 2. Which path will I enter into the plant? I will enter the plant through the: Leaf (your choices are leaf or root. Hint: if you are carbon, you are part of a gaseous molecule and can only enter one way). 3. If I enter through this way, I am a part of the carbon dioxide molecule. (Hint: water only has an two hydrogen and one oxygen atoms. Your choices are carbon dioxide molecule or water molecule.) 4. I will travel to the chloroplast once I enter into the leaf. (Think carefully. Your choices are chloroplast or mitochondria.) Self Check/Reflection: Review the equation for Photosynthesis below. Think about where the plant gets its energy from. 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy -> C6H12O6 + 6O2 5. Once I get here, I am joined by the other reactants. (Need help? Check the bioventure tab under the Photosynthesis tab.) Together the reactants for photosynthesis are carbon dioxide and water and energy. The products of photosynthesis are glucose and oxygen. (Your choices are energy, carbon dioxide, oxygen, water and glucose.) 6. I am now part of a new molecule. I have decided to become a glucose molecule. (Hint: Only one of these can contain carbon. Your choices are glucose molecule or oxygen molecule.) 7. As part of this new molecule, I will remain stored in the plant. (Only one of these choices can be correct. Your choices are remain stored in the plant or be released to the atmosphere.) Let’s keep going – Cellular Respiration 8. I am still curious. What type of animal would I like to eat the plant I selected for item 1? List here: animals. 9. Because I am now a glucose molecule (list your answer for #6 above), I will now enter the animal. How will I do this: The animal will eat the plant. (Hint: Your animal is really hungry! Your choices are the animal will eat the plant or the animal will breathe me into its lungs.) 10. I will travel to the mitochondria once I enter into the animal. (Hint: what is the POWERHOUSE of the cell? Your choices are chloroplast or mitochondria.) Self Check/Reflection: Study the equation for Cellular Respiration below. See if you can find any similarities between this equation and the one for Photosynthesis! C6H12O6 + 6O2 -> 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy 11. Once I get here, I am joined by the other reactants. (Need help? Check the bioventure tab under Cellular Respiration.) I bet you didn’t know this about me! List one fun, creative thing about the atom you selected. (As an example – I am a carbon atom. I also love to swim in the ocean and my name is Carbo). I am a carbon atom . And, I love to fly inside the living things, oceans, atmosphere, and I am part of the carbon molecule that's why, everyone recognize me as a carbon atom.
