    so \[81^{1/3}=((9)^2)^{1/3}\]

    \[((9)^2)^{1/3}=9^{2/3}\] going back to the problem and subbing that in \[9^{1/3}* 9^{2/3}\]

    when it is same base, you add the exponent \[9^{1/2 + 2/3}=9^1=9\]
