find the eccentricity ... the vertex is given by 'a' and the foci are given by 'a times eccentricity'

2x^2  9y^2 = 18 Dividing by 18 on both sides, x^2/9  y^2/2 = 1 which is a hyperbola and that too a standard one. Please refer Math class XI for further details on this topic. Source(s): I was a JEE topper :)
