How do you work out the median for a stem and leaf diagram?

    A stem and leaf plot shows the number on the left representing the place number of the right digit. I.E, in the graph above, you have column 0. You have the numbers 03, 06, 09. For column 1, you have 12, 15, 16, 19. For column 2, you have 21, 23.

    So, write the numbers. 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 16, 19, 21, 23.

    Cross off a number on the left, then on the right, counting towards the middle until you have one number left.
