Latex is is a document markup language and document preparation system for the TeX typesetting program. Many journals require you to write in LATEX format. Once you write in LATEX format. The software will itself generate an output file with automatic formatting required for a perticular journal / paper. You can read about it on the link below. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX And if you are really interested then I can let you know how to install and use it.
