    Why did anti-imperialists want the U.S. to mind our own business?

      One reason was that they believed the US should not be in the business of interfering within the affairs of other nations or that it could impose its power on a people or culture simply because it could. Another argument against imperialism was in that they didn't want the US to follow in the same footsteps of an imperial power like Great Britain from which they had declared, and won, their independence from.
