    #3 is kinda buried in here http://www.historyworld.net/wrldhis/plaintexthistories.asp?paragraphid=iaf russia didn't have access to any good ports, so that's basically what caused it (probably more to the story)

    i agree with 4A, don't need much research to show that bad climate ---> poor conditions to grow food ----> not many people
