Wikipedia has an article, Limit of a function, that might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limit_of_a_function

A limit is basically the value of something that approaches something else (as simple as I can put it).

limit, i wont define it, but i will tell you something about limits. Limit knows this, knowing the function value of a point of a function is useless, it is not applicable in real life. but knowing what happens, the behavior of the function as it moves towards a point, that makes some sense. Limit, is the backbone of calculus.

limit is actually a tool to find the value of a function at a point where its value exist or may be some of its indeterminate form...graphically the value of y when x approaches a definite point....u hv ne query in limit ..i may help to sort it out |dw:1355174021983:dw| for this fn y=x ..at x=2 lim. of f(x)=2...
