What goods did the West African Kingdoms trade for power? I'm thinking salt just because that was so important back then but... I don't know for sure... I'm trying to fill out this Review for my DBA

    The west Africans grew wealthy though trade because they made taxes for people who came in and out of their territory.

    Umm I literally just made this account so I'm not sure what that means *sheepish grin* and West African's taxed people for coming in and out of their territory sorta like a tool booth of sorts, but I don't think that's the answer my teacher is looking for. She doesn't have choices but the question isn't stated like, how did the West African get power through trade.... arg I don't think I'm making sense thank you so much! and what's connections?
