Brands are usually spread through advertisements. Each big brand has different advertisements for different countries... For example take Nike shoes. In the united states they strictly focus on exercise shoes because a lot of people in the US like to exercise due to overweight. But in China for example Nike focuses their ads on comfort because in the large cities of China most people walk or ride bicycles instead of drive. If you need more examples let me know
