Carter15 is pretty much right. Islam believes that, where the Dome of the Rock stands today, Muhammad was taken into Heaven to receive teachings from God. For the Jews, it was where the Kingdom of Israel was. And for the Christians, it was where Jesus had his ministry, where he gathered his disciples, and where he was crucified.
