It's rather confusing to me.
The numbers are results of data. The data is what is stating previously. I will walk you through some of the lines and explain. It says, out of 100 people. Those who know better -52%. Doubting every step-nearly all the rest so somewhere around 100-52=48. So nearly 48% doubt every step and nearly 52% know better. Glad to lend a hand if it doesn't take too long as high as 49. 49% Always good because they can't be otherwise 4 out of 100 or 4% or maybe 5 out of 100 or 5%. All the numbers that appear are a percent out of the 100 hundred people. Statistics are results of data. In this particular example the person has used the data he gathered to create a poem. He has gathered this data by surveying or asking 100 people each of these questions. Perhaps worded differently in the initial survey and reworded for better fit in a poem. Ultimately what the person is doing here is quite inspiring because it has taken down data, calculated the statistics, and then made a poem with the results. It's interesting because it is a unique way to look at and understand how statistics work. Not only that but it poses that no matter what, the data never changes for the fact that no matter what category the individual previously fell under whether it be a perceived 'positive' or 'negative' characteristic ever last one of those 100 people were mortal. Which is kind of loaded because you know, yes, always every person will die but when you get all that data and that is always the end result it almost seems to say that none of the other data really matters because at the end of the day life is short and one way or another all of them will die no matter what characteristics they posses. That statistic of morality has yet to change! I find this poem pretty awe inspiring myself. I hope that helped. For more information on statistics I think you should take the following course. It is offered for free and it is actually a lot of fun. http://www.udacity.com/overview/Course/st101/CourseRev/1
'What is the advantage of mixing exact and approximate numbers in this poem? '
Based on what I just read, I would say that the advantages surrounding statistical information deal with reliability. The information collected supports qualitative data obtained from various sources with authentic facts. Using statistics is often a straightforward analysis. Many businesses rely on mixed statistics in order to improve their services for a customer's well-being. Statistics help managers compare alternative scenarios and choose the best option for the company. A mix of exact or approximate numbers is required in order for a manager to safely compare statistics.
