    you would do 2x + 2x + 4x - 6 + 4x - 6 for the rectangle and then add like terms then do 2x + 4x + 6 + 3x - 3 then add like terms ... wait! that is the perimeter for each... the common perimeter for both shapes would be 2x i believe
