Simon’s encounter with the Lord of the Flies is one of the most important moments in the novel. Explain the significance of the name “Lord of the Flies” and the relationship between the Lord of the Flies and the Beast. How does this relationship fit with what Simon and Piggy tried to explain in the boys’ meeting about the Beast? What does Simon’s encounter with the Lord of the Flies suggest will happen to the boys on the island?
