## Skysthelimit Group Title Solve. x^2 + 8x = 24 –4 ± 2 √ 2 –4 ± 2√ 10 –4 ± 2√ 5 –4 ± 2√ 7 one year ago one year ago

1. Skysthelimit

would it be the 2nd one?

2. AnimalAin

Move the constant term to the LHS and use the quadratic formula, or complete the square.

3. Skysthelimit

I know how to do it just looking for someone to check my answer and make sure its correct

4. AnimalAin

$x^2 + 8x = 24 \implies x^2 + 8x +16=24+16 \implies (x+4)^2=40$ $\implies x+4= \pm \sqrt{40} \implies x=4 \pm \sqrt{40}$

5. AnimalAin

$4 \pm \sqrt{40} =4 \pm 2 \sqrt {10}$

6. AnimalAin

Do math every day.

7. Skysthelimit

ok so I was correct then :) thank you

8. AnimalAin

No sweat.
