How can you effectively relate to a text that was written hundreds of years ago? You can make a list of the reasons the text is difficult to read and why it bores you. You can look at modern research that explains the human experience in the text. You can skip directly to the end of the story without receiving the full context. You can read something more modern instead of reading the assigned story.
