How did the characters in The Night Thoreau Spent In Jail think nature was so important??

    Henry Thoreau was a transcendentalist, they believed it was important for man and nature to co-exist as opposed to the common belief at that time that man was meant to dominate nature. Transcendentalists believe that both man and nature are inherently good.
