mathhelp7Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
yes. would u pls show work? thx!

tkhunnyBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
You need a plan. You must end with "x = simething", right?

@mathhelp7 For these type of functions, you will need to make it as a quadratic equation. Squaring every term in the equation should do the trick.

thanks! i still need help.

Add 6 both sides and plz tell me vat u get @mathhelp7

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
Right hand side part is ok. but plz check the left hand side part

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
remember 2x+10 is within sqrt and not 6. U cannot add 6 to \(\sqrt{2x+10}\) and make it \(sqrt{2x+16}\) getting it?
 one year ago

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
\(\sqrt{2x+10}6=2\) \(\sqrt{2x+10}6+6=2+6\) \(\sqrt{2x+10}=2+6\) Gettin this @mathhelp7?
 one year ago

mathhelp7Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
Yes. so do i cancel 6 out which will make it 8 = 8?
 one year ago

mathhelp7Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
i wasn't sure if i needed to continue from where you stopped.
 one year ago

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
ya u need to:) 2+6=8 so \(\sqrt{2x+10}=8\) Square both sides and plz tell me vat u get. \((\sqrt a)^2=a\)
 one year ago

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
\((\sqrt{2x+10})^2=?\) \((8)^2=?\)
 one year ago

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
\((8)^2=64\) is right.:) What abt \((\sqrt{2x+10})^2=?\)
 one year ago

mathhelp7Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
sqrt2x+10 = (x + 5) (x – 5) = 64? i'm lost :(

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
noo. dw:1356933328085:dw can u find nw?
 one year ago

mathhelp7Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
Thanks for your help and patience. i give up!
 one year ago

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
That's k:) Let me tell it again then. \((\sqrt{2x+10})^2=2x+10\) Is it clear?
 one year ago

mathhelp7Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
ok. i get it but what happens to the 64?
 one year ago

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
Ya nw equate them. i.e 2x+10=64 Nw solve fro x. Can u do it?
 one year ago

mathhelp7Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
i think so. is it x=56?
 one year ago

mathhelp7Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0
i think so. is it x=52?
 one year ago

ajprincessBest ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2
noo. Plz follw the steps. 1.Subtract 10 both sides 2.Divide by 2 both sides
