A force, when applied, causes an object to undergo a physical change. There are many types of forces such as TENSION FORCES (elevator cables, rubber bands) GRAVITATIONAL FORCES (objects in free fall, skydiving), and NORMAL FORCES (when you are standing on the ground, a normal force is applied onto you from the ground, which is why you don't fall straight through the ground).
