## studygirl18 could some one help with the exponet stuff? I think i have the answer I just need to dubble check it. one year ago one year ago

1. studygirl18

What is the value of y^-5/x^3 for x = 2 and y = –4? My answer 1/-128 Is it right?

2. wio

My steps: $\frac{y^-5}{x^3} \\ \frac{1}{y^5x^3} \\ \frac{1}{(-4)^5(2)^3} \\ \frac{1}{(-1024)(8)} \\ -\frac{1}{8192}$

3. studygirl18

it looks kinda right but that not a choice they give me A.10/3 B.128 C.1/-128 D.-128

4. studygirl18

and you have to mutlipy -4and 2 thats -8 then 3x5=15 but i dont know so confused?

5. whpalmer4

You wrote the problem wrong if those are the possible answers.

6. studygirl18

sorry the x^3 should be a -3

7. whpalmer4

If it is $\frac{y^5}{x^3}$ then the solution is among those listed.

8. zepdrix

Yep looks like you did it correctly then c: good job!

9. studygirl18

wow first time for ever thing!

10. zepdrix

hah XD

11. whpalmer4

$\frac{y^{-5}}{x^{-3}} = \frac{x^3}{y^5} = \frac{2^3}{(-4)^5} = -\frac{8}{1024}=-\frac{1}{128}$]

12. studygirl18

thxs peoples :) even though i was right!
