    You want p by itself, but p is being divided by 8. To get rid of "divide by 8", you need to do the opposite operation, which is "multiply by 8." But in an equation, whatever you do to one side, you must do the same to the other side. So multiply both sides by 8. |dw:1358279465689:dw|

    Now you can check. Look at the original question. If p = 96, is 96 divided by 8 equal to 12? It is, so 96 is the correct answer.
