what happens to genetic material in the sexual reproduction process? in contrast, what happens to the genetic material when self-fertilization happens?

okay, so pretend you have 2 bags with different coloured marbles, red and blue. sexual reproduction is like mixing 2 bags of different marbles, so will end up with some red and some blue. In contrast, self-fertilization will be like mixing the same coloured marbles over and over, so you will always have the same colour. now pretend marbles are alleles

does the marbles change colors when you mix them? i mean, are they different from the beginning?

well you're speculating on sexual reproduction right? so C is out of the question because there will be a change in alleles (using the analogy, you're mixing the bags). now, you're not changing the actual allele (can you change the marbles? no, you're only changing the amount of each marbles in the bags) by changing the amount, you're changing the frequency. frenquency = how often
