The width is x1 You first multiply (x+2) by (x+8) and you find (x2+10x+16) Then divide (x3+9x2+6x16) by (x2+10x+16) to get x1

You can do what you did in the previous example, but notice that when you multiply (x + 2) by (x + 8) using FOIL, the last term of the product will be 16. When you multiply that by another binomial (x + a), the result will have to have a last term of 16. That seems to show that the factor you are looking for is (x 1)
