My curriculum does not include this subject, so I feel inclined to ask. What exactly is taught in the academic subject of Music?

Music Theory, the inspiration behind music during the enlightenment, renaissance, etc... The backgrounds of some of the most famous composers. Different styles of music. How music was used (to tell stories, to impress someone, to express feelings). Also you learn the fundamentals of music (notes, pitch, rhythm, solfege, instruments, vocal, etc.).
