Basically, I don't get how to find the longest side (bookshelf) and the largest angle (computer), with only ONE thing (7 ft.)
Okay. So in the picture, that tiny square in the corner tells you that this triangle is a "right" triangle. Right triangles mean that one of the angles is 90 degrees and this is what that little square is telling you. Next, the rule of triangle angles as that when you add up the 3 angles, it should equal 180 degrees. So with this right triangle, you already know that that corner with the box is the "right" angle at 90 degrees. That means that the other two angles must add up to 90 degrees as well (180 degrees minus 90 degrees). Following so far?

Okay so the next rule in triangles is that the longest side is always opposite the largest angle and the shortest side is always opposite the smallest angle. So without even having to do a calculation using the number given, you just know that since 90 degrees is the biggest angle, the opposite side is the longest side.
